I bought the VESA adapter and an Ergotron desktop stand for my 24" iMac so I could lower it more than the stock stand would allow.

Jazz Semiconductor is a US based pure-play semiconductor wafer foundry that serves customers targeting wireless, optical networking, power management, storage, aerospace/defense and other high-performance applications.
Sounds interesting!

So with the exception of init and dealloc couple, alloc and release are always on the same function.
admanimal sample actually illustrate it. Retain is like alloc in a sense of increasing retain count.

This would be stealing, as my contract obliges me to continue paying for the cost of the hardware, which really isn't paid for, when I first get the phone. I agree with the others however, that AT&T should unlock the phone, once the contract is up, or that Apple should offer an unlocked phone, albeit at a higher price. I am thinking of expat pilots who live in the UAE flying for an international carrier for 20 days and then get to come back stateside for 10. They really need a solution like that. The next thing that AT&T should do, then, is have a different pricing structure for those with legitimately unlocked phones. After all, that phone didn't cost AT&T a dime.
To many Apple fans, everything that is against Apple policy looks like stealing. It is not. You still have to pay for your contract or pay the termination fee (which recovers the cost of hardware). So, feel free to jail-break or unlock. :p
WTF!? If you think that one company's choices take away your freedom, then: 1. You rely to much on one company and 2. If you think they are taking your freedom away just move to Libya and report back to me in a year.
Do you really think Apple unlocks iPhones in Lybia? You wish.

Hi Guys,
A mac mini (2 months old) connected to a GOOD UPS is now rebooting on it's own 3-4 times a day.
There are log files generated for these events but are too detailed for my understanding.
Is there a simple event viewer (like MS eventvwr.msc) that can show me failed services, failed operations, etc., so I can try and track down what the heck is going on?
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have the iPod photo but have 2 iPods, should say my wife has one I have the other. You can decided how iTunes syncs by either saying that all playlist and or library sync or that you freely add and subtract as you wish. I have ours set to sync only our purchased music playlist and another playlist that I add to she also has her own.
I also have the media card reader, works great. Once the photos are transferred you simply attach you iPod to the Mac and iPhoto, if not open, will open up and prompt you to the import option, just like a camera.
From what I have seen, the sync iPhoto pictures works the same as iTunes, you pic what you want to sync.
Hope you get it, I know that I am looking at getting the 40GB color soon.

Wasn't a rumor, and it wasn't the PPC/Mac version.
Wasn't there a rumor going around a couple months back about M$ making VPC free? That would make sense now if they're going to discontinue it, and let us PPC users have it for free. Who wants to pay for a product that won't receive any updates?

Agreed, but the latest nano is pretty poor, was surprised, seems very unapple-like. There is room for a good ultra portable small music player (gyms etc, I see so many ipods) and for them to please, please make a good quality headphone as standard, the ones that come with ipods (of any price) is pathetic. So, let's see what they do.
Why should they make good quality headphones? Seriously, I really don't think that makes any sense for apple or the consumer. Just think about it. Anyone who is serious about getting a nice music listening experience with their iPods will buy some good headphones or did already anyway. So when apple adds high quality headphones to their ipod line (making every ipod cost like 50 EUR more) everyone who already has headphones they like very much (For example I bought some Shures for 100 EUR) would be very very pissed off at buying useless headphones for 50 EUR they never wanted to buy.
As much as I see that a high quality product such as the iPod classic is bundled with something as cheap as the apple earbuds, I just don't want to be forced in buying an expensive headphone which I probably won't like (sound or comfort). Imagine buying a new amplifier for your hifi system and they come bundled with what the producer thought were okay speakers.
Just wanted to clarify that one as this is a very common complain about the iPod line which I just don't see at all.

Thank you for the quick response, Night Spring.
You were right - the only choices are to stay at 3.2 or update to 4.3.2.
However, iTunes would not let me restore from my 4.3.1 backup unless I update to 4.3.2. I guess that's logical since the newer 4.3.1 ver would have certain features (like folders) that are not supported by the older 3.2 ver hence the need to update first.
On that basis, I decided to take your advice and update to 4.3.2. Was stumped for a while when I encountered a "3194 error" but later was told by the service centre that it could be caused by Apple's server being shut-down (seems it happens on Sundays in particular). All's resolved now and I am currently doing the restore from my back-up.
Thanks again for the help! Now for the hopefully not-too-long wait for the untethered jb!

Definitely order them. I didn't think I would need them either, but the night before they actually arrived in the mail, my gf's sister broke one.
I ordered two, and they sent me two. You guys with extras are lucky.

I was reading into OSX lion and apple states this:
''Multi-Touch gestures make everything you do on iPad easy and intuitive. Now a richer Multi-Touch experience comes to the Mac. Enjoy more fluid and realistic gesture responses, including rubber-band scrolling, page and image zoom, and full-screen swiping. In Mac OS X Lion, every swipe, pinch, and scroll looks and feels more responsive and lifelike.''
So how does this differ from the current use of the trackpads for macbooks? they can already swipe, pinch, scroll and zoom. So how is this different? Is it just more fluid and sensitive? Or am I looking at an awesome upgrade to the mac trackpad? (which is already far superior to a mouse!!)

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but I just saw this (http://xlr8yourmac.com/archives/oct02/103002.html#S14660) article yesterday at XLR8yourmac.com
Info on Non-Pioneer Superdrive in recent iMac G4s (DVD-R/-RW plus DVD-RAM?) About a month or so ago I had heard that some new iMac G4s had non-Pioneer DVD-R/RW drives - a reader with one of these just sent an email with more info:
" Hey Mike ...
Just wanted to let you know that Apple has changed the SuperDrive in the latest shipping iMacs. I just bought a 17" iMac LCD straight from Apple's Developer Connection (we're Select developers at work) and I was surprised to see that Mac OS 9.2.2's Apple System Profiler identified the drive as
-------------------------------------------------------------------
DVD-R/CD-RW
Driver version: 1.4.8
Mac OS partitions: 0
Removable media: Yes
Vendor: HL-DT-ST
Revision Number: D02D
Product ID: DVD-RW GCA-4020B
Apple disc burning: Supported
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Depending on who you believe, "HL-DT-ST" is either Hitachi or GoldStar in Korea - I'm not sure which.
A few Google searches revealed that this drive does DVD-R, DVD-RW *and* DVD-RAM! And, supposedly, the CD-R burning speeds are 12x, which is apparently faster than the previous Pioneer SuperDrives. (I can't personally verify this myself, not knowing the specs of the Pioneer A03/A04)
(Pioneer DVR-104/A04 and 103/A04 have a 8x/4x max (CDR/CDRW) burn speed rating.-Mike)
The only place I could find on the Mac Web that mentioned this new development is a 5-day old article on MacWelt.DE, the German Mac site.
Regards,
- Greg E"
About a dozen readers wrote in reply to this post mentioning LG or Hitachi links, etc. - another iMac G4 owner sent info from the label on the drive:
"FYI, I'll read off the label on a superdrive taken out of 17" iMac delivered approx. 3 weeks ago (yep, I've opened the iMac to take a closer look):
HL Data Storage
CD-RW / DVD-R/RW DRIVE
MODEL No. GCA-4020B
DRIVE REV. A1
manufactured SEPTEMBER 2002
Hitachi-LG Data Storage, Inc.
(...), Tokyo, Japan
MADE IN JAPAN
I tried to look up tech. specs of this GCA-4020B on the web, but got nowhere so far.
Cheers,
Jan"

I think for SL there was a timeframe (4 weeks?) for getting SL for free. Then there was a separate timeframe outside of that for getting SL for $10. I may be wrong, as I did not qualify for either.
This.
If you were within a month of Launch Day, you got it for free. There was a separate time frame that allowed you to get it for $10. Outside of that, you could buy it outright for $30 (if you already had 10.5) or $129 if you needed the box set.
I would assume that 10.7 upgrades will be handled in a similar fashion, but we don't know pricing yet on the full version.
